Cabin Crew Course Eligibility Criteria at WIIA

To become an air hostess, the prospect should have finished 10 + 2 examinations passed in any discipline from a recognized board or university or diploma, a degree in any stream. The age limitation for involving in the course is between 17 and 26 years. The candidate is at least five feet and two inches tall. The candidate should be available at the time of applying for the course.

They should have standard eyesight or be converted to 6/6 in both eyes. The candidate should be healthy, fit and have a delightful personality. The candidate can instantly go to the cabin crew training institutes or the airlines after witnessing an opening to apply for the cabin crew training course. The cabin crew training course should be learned from the best training institute to perform well. After selection, the airlines will perform an initial screening procedure, in which the height and weight of the prospect are accessed.

The prospect has to pass the entrance test executed by the airlines. After the test, the primary interview will assess the candidate's voice, language fluency, communication talent, and personality. The selected nominees will be offered air hostess course training by the airline for six months.

Career Prospects

Air cabin crew members have numerous career options. They can pursue job opportunities in public sector airlines, like Air India & Pawan Hans. However, most cabin crew members like private airlines operating on domestic and international routes. Private airlines like Jet Airways, Spice Jet, IndiGo, Jetlite Airlines, etc., favor cabin crews. With experience, they can evolve supervisors and assign and oversee the work of junior cabin crew members. Most airlines allow crew members to opt for other jobs, depending on their suitability for available positions. Some airlines allocate routine assigned administrative and other ground duties to senior flight staff members.


They are in charge of the cockpit door to the back kitchen area. The cabin crew is not liable outside the aircraft or inside the cockpit.

  • The cabin crew can interfere in average and emergencies. They lock the exit doors located on the left and right sides of the aircraft by taking the instructions. 
  • Hosts & hostesses are also assigned with opening the emergency exit door in any situation of an emergency. Passengers sitting right next to the emergency exit doors are also responsible. 
  • When the required materials are to be packed into the aircraft, the duty of the cabin crew differs from company to company. 
  • The job definition of hosts and hostesses about the service duties depends on the company. On some airlines, the cabin crew deals with all the passengers' requests, and on some airlines, they are only to begin the buffet service for passengers at specific times. 
  • The primary task of the cabin crew is to present to passengers what to do in case of an emergency, both auditory & visually. 
  • Hosts and hostesses are also bound to provide passengers with the required information about the journey.


As an air cabin crew, you'll require to:

  • Be professional, punctual and considerate at all times.
  • Follow a pre-flight briefing, during which you'll be allocated your working positions for the upcoming flight. The crew are told of flight details, the schedule, the number of infants on board and if there are passengers with any particular requirements, such as diabetic passengers or passengers in wheelchairs.
  • Carry out pre-flight tasks, including reviewing the safety equipment and accomplishing security checks, confirming the aircraft is clean and tidy. That data in the seat pockets is up to date, and all meals, drinks, & products are on board.
  • Welcome passengers on board and show them to their seats
  • Inform passengers of the aircraft about security procedures and assure that all hand luggage is securely kept away
  • Inspect all seat belts and galleys that are secure before take-off.
  • make statements on behalf of the pilot and answer queries during the flight.
  • Serve meals & drinks.
  • Sell duty-free goods and instruct passengers of any allowance conditions in force at their destination.
  • Reassure passengers & guarantee they follow safety procedures precisely in emergencies
  • Deal with any inappropriate or inebriated passengers (who may be acting in a rough or anti-social way) politely but firmly to assure the safety and convenience of everyone on the flight
  • Give first aid where required.
  • Make sure that passengers disembark safely at the end of a flight and scan that there is no luggage left in the overhead vaults and no stowaways or questionable items on board.
  • Complete paperwork involving writing a flight report.
