What is a DGCA Licence? Why is it important?

DGCA licence is a form of authority provided by DGCA, A regulating authority of civil aviation. This body investigates the circumstances and incidents about aviation, and it approves the institutions associated with AME training. DGCA conducts the licence examinations and provides the licence to the students who have fulfilled the necessary criteria to get the licence. In the absence of a licence, a student can not become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

What is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course?

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course is a three-year license programme that requires candidates to complete a three-year regular academic curriculum approved by DGCA. In addition, students must complete their module papers, which are conducted by the DGCA, as part of their academic curriculum.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer deals with repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues in aeroplanes, known as Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). Category B1 License of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)

A licence for mechanical streams is designated as B1 in the aviation industry. The mechanical stream is concerned with the components of the Aircraft, such as the fuselage, landing gear, and wings, among others. The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Course is divided into an academic curriculum lasting two years and a practical training programme lasting two years.

This category is categorized into the following subcategories:-

Category B1.1:- Licence B1.1 is required for aeroplanes with jet engines installed.

Category B1.2:- The aeroplanes with piston engines are certified under this category.

Category B1.3:- The helicopters with jet engines are certified under Licence B1.3.

Category B1.4:- The helicopters with piston engines are certified under this category.

Category B2 of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence is available.

The avionics stream is associated with the electronic system. The duration of this category is two years for academic sessions and another two years for knowledge gained through live training.
