Aeronautical Engineering or Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

Which-is-better-Aeronautical-Engineering-or-AME

Indian parents want to make their child either a doctor or an engineer. Normally, you have heard of a civil engineer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, etc., but they are not in demand right now. The aviation industry is a growing industry in India as well as in other countries. There are only a few people who know about Aircraft maintenance engineering and Aeronautical Engineering.

People often get confused between Aircraft maintenance engineering and Aeronautical engineering. To know the difference between both is necessary to select the perfect career opportunity for yourself. Future job and salary scope in both the courses will help you choose the best future scope for yourself. The courses are individually explained below.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering:

DGCA, Government of India, has approved the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course in the aviation sector. There are various career opportunities in the aviation sector. Aircraft maintenance engineering is a great career scope for students who want to pursue their careers in the aviation sector.

In the AME course, you will learn how to repair, maintain, and resolve issues of an aircraft. It is a certified aircraft maintenance engineering course. It can work in both the public and private sectors. It is four years of course. It includes 2 years of academic and 2 years of practical training. All the pre-flight maintenance should be compulsory certified by the Aircraft maintenance engineer.

Western India Institute of Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd. (WIIA) provides AME courses on campus.

1. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING: B1.1 (AEROPLANE TURBINE) CATEGORY

  • Aeroplane and Power Plant
  • Helicopter and Power Plant

2. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING: B2 (AVIONICS) CATEGORY

  • Radio Navigation
  • Electrical Systems
  • Instruments Systems

3. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING: B.SC (HONOURS) IN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE

AME Career Scope

The aviation industry is growing in India. There are many career opportunities for the students who study to get a future in the aviation sector. Because of the increase in air traffic, many companies order more aircraft. It will boost the opportunities of aircraft maintenance engineers. There are at least 28 jobs an aircraft maintenance engineer can do.

Career opportunities at a place:

Airlines:- Before the aircraft flies, a certified aircraft maintenance engineer analyzes and solves the problems in the aircraft only after their green light aircraft fly.

Aircraft Manufacturing Companies:- To maintain and operate engines, aircraft maintenance engineers are hired.

Aviation Training Centres:- They can also train others and let them know about the scopes and opportunities of pursuing this course.

Civil Defence Forces:- Aircraft are also used by the army, and only licensed aircraft maintenance engineers can maintain and service the aircraft.

As WIIA offers the course on campus, they have Boeing 737-200 (Medium Aeroplane) aircraft in working condition for the student to practice.

Also, they have Learjet-24 (Heavy Aeroplane) & Zenith CH 2000 (Light Aeroplane) for the students to work practically on the aircraft.

AME Salary Scope

The engineers need to go through training for 2 years. The stipend can be from 20k to 25k. It is a respected job with a good amount of salary. The salary package is high. After getting 2 years of training and clearing the modules AME license will be issued to the candidate by DGCA, Govt of India. The average salary of AME is approx INR 10 Lakhs per annum.

The responsibility of passenger’s safety and security comes with a high salary. You can earn a lot of respect along with the salary.

Aeronautical Engineering:

Aeronautical engineering is about the design and manufacturing the machines and operation techniques. Aeronautical engineers specialize in the creation and aircraft-related techniques. The students who have an interest in aircraft and mechanisms can go for aeronautical engineering. It is a four-year duration course conducted semester-wise.

To become an aeronautical engineer, you must have studied physics and mathematics before. Aeronautical engineer course is for undergraduate and post-graduate. They can control air traffic. There is a short time to service aircraft, the engineer should be speedy and accurate.

It is a huge responsibility for the engineer. The life of passengers and crew members are in their hands. It is a very complex job compared to other engineering courses. But it is also trendy among the students who want to pursue that career in the aviation sector. Aeronautical engineering is harder than mechanical engineering. Some of the core subjects of both courses are similar. The basic subjects of engineering are physics and mathematics.

Aeronautical Engineering Career Scope:

The employment of aeronautical engineers is expected to grow in the future. It is one of the brightest careers for students who want to pursue their careers in the aviation sector. The demand for an aeronautical engineer is increasing nationally and internationally. There is a great chance to work in the government sector. They can find jobs in government as well as private airlines.

The field of employment is

  • Technology
  • science
  • space exploration
  • military

There are also many opportunities for the students who want to go foreign for work. There is a wide scope of this fiend in other countries too.

Aeronautical Engineering Salary Scope:

The demand for an aeronautical engineer is in several fields in aviation and airspace. Space technology also has a huge opportunity in the future. Job opportunities for an aeronautical engineer are huge. Not only in India but also in other countries, they can work. The average salary of an aeronautical engineer is 5-6 lakhs per annum. The government gives salary as per the post of the engineer.

Conclusion

Both the courses are different from each other. They are both important for the potential students of their courses. After comparing both courses, it’s career scopes, and future salary scope, Aircraft maintenance engineering seems better than Aeronautical engineering. The career scope is wide in AME, and the future salary scope is higher than aeronautical engineering.

The demand for aircraft maintenance engineers is more. They can easily find a job at an aircraft maintenance manufacturing company and the airport. AME is a licensed course and works in all the fields of aviation.

Western India Institute of Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd. (WIIA) is the only AME institute in India to have its own Boeing 737-200 aircraft on campus to provide Aircraft Maintenance Engineering approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, and other skill development courses in Aviation field with latest technology and systems. We have been providing trained manpower to the aviation industry since 2004. In association with Indus University, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Aircraft Maintenance is provided to the AME students of WIIA as an option to improve their career prospects further.
