Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering in B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) category is most suitable for students that want to make a career in aviation. The aspiring prospects who desire to pursue Aircraft Maintenance Engineering in B1.1 must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • Shall not be less than 16 years of age at the time of admission.
  • Shall have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board or University or 3 years diploma either in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Aeronautical. 
  • Medically fit and doesn't have color blindness or any other physical disabilities.

Modules are the subjects that need to be studied by students to gain knowledge of aircraft and its system. There is a total of 17 nos. of modules according to DGCA, but candidates have to clear the modules following the stream they have chosen, e.g. To get the License in Category B1.1, the student needs to clear a total of 11 nos. of modules conducted by DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India.
An aircraft cannot take off without the certification of release to service (CRS) is issued by the certifying staff on behalf of the CAR-145 approved maintenance organization (AMO) after carrying out all maintenance required by the aircraft customer/operator/ owner. - To evolve as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, one must hold a license issued from the Regulatory Authority, (DGCA) Director General of Civil Aviation under the aircraft Rule 61 and CAR 66.

An aircraft cannot take-off without the certificate of release to service issued by appropriately authorized certifying staff on behalf of the CAR-145 authorized maintenance association when satisfied that all maintenance needed by the customer of the aircraft or aircraft part has been adequately carried out by the CAR-145 approved maintenance organization following the procedures specified in the maintenance organization exposition taking into consideration the availability and usage of the maintenance data. To become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, the person has to take a License from the Regulatory Authority, Director General of Civil Aviation as per Rule 61 of Aircraft Rule 1937 derived from the Aircraft Act 1934 enacted by Indian Parliament, Govt India under the aircraft rule.

Medical Fitness
The trainees must be subjected to a medical test before being taken to the training institute by a doctor who possesses an MBBS degree. Aspirants shall not have any physical disabilities or color blindness interfering with removing an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's duties.

Foreign nationals
Foreign students shall have the lowest qualification above 'O' level (UK) or equivalent. Foreign applicant/applicants with NRI status involved for admission from a foreign country must have "Security Clearance" from The Home Ministry, The Government of India. The applicant must have a copy of "Security Clearance" at the time of admission.
